The success or failure of a garment is often determined before you reach the machine. This class introduces the basis of the world of sewing: using the sewing machine, understanding the pattern, sewing terms, layout, cutting and marking, pressing, and using the tools and sewing notions. Starting with the fabric purchases and preparation, and proceeding to unravel the mysteries of reading the pattern pieces, a successful new hobby will be yours. Basic techniques will be demonstrated and samples sewn for your notebook.

Supplies for 1st Class:

Basic Sewing Book: Either Sewing Essentials- A Singer Sewing Reference Book, or Simplicity's Simply the Best

Notebook and pen

Supplies for 2nd Class:

All previously listed supplies, sewing machine in good working order, instruction manual, accessories, foot control, power cord, bobbins, scissors, notions as discussed in the 1st class

Supplies for 3rd Class:

Fabric and supplies for a simple project as discussed in the prior class.
